Linckia laevigata is characterised by 5 cylindrical arms coloured bright blue. The color can vary slightly from species to species from different locations. It may reach 35-40 cm, but rarely reach this size in Oman.

So far, I have only seen L. laevigata in Dhofar where it appears to be rare.

This species is relatively common in the Indo-Pacific but rare in Oman. Its bright blue color is due to a carotenoprotein called linckiacyanin.
